Various Venues Music of Julius Eastman and Associates A festival centered around the music and milieu of legendary Downtown composer, pianist, and vocalist Julius Eastman. Led by CJM and Ne(x)tworks, the festival will present the work of colleauges such Jon Gibson and Arthur Russell in addition to Eastman's richly disparate and recently rediscovered output.

Downtown Music in New York, 1971 to present

A series of contextualizing and performance events exploring New York's disparate "Downtown" scene from the early 70's through the present, including a close examination of intersections between the New Music, Improv, and Avant Rock communities.

March 18 - 24, 2007 Brooklyn Lyceum MATA Festival

CJM joins curatorial team to present 5 concerts and 2 panel discussions. The concerts feature Dutch group Hexnut, local string orchestra+ The Knights. CJM premieres stuplimity no.3 for solo trombone and live-electonics, and moderates the panel Electronic Media and the Performing Composer with Luke DuBois, James Fei, Tom Hamilton, Miya Masaoka, and Raz Mesinai.

June, 2007 The Stone CJM month-long curatorial residency

CJM scheduled performances at The Stone during the month of June in 2007.
Highlights Include:

• Trombonophilia - Month-long series/festival featuring an amazing roster of projects by NYC's extraordinarily deep pool of trombonist/composer/band leaders

TILT Brass Band - Newly commissioned works by band memebers and composer friends receive first performances over two nights.

Ne(x)tworks Residency - 10th, 17th, & 24th. Includes premieres by group members Shelley Burgon, Yves Dharamraj, Miguel Frasconi, and Ariana Kim.

March 31 - April 4, 2009 Le Poisson Rouge MATA Festival 2009 MATA Festival MATA presents its 11th annual festival of new music by young composers! Ensembles include So Percussion, Bing and Ruth, NOW Ensemble, Ne(x)tworks, Sawako, and The Knights.

The 2009 Festival continues MATA's commissioning program with new works by Andrew Hamilton (The Knights), Nicole Lizeé (So Percussion), David Moore (Bing and Ruth), and Mike Vernusky (sound work).
